The top four teams of 3rd Japan Soccer League and the top four teams of 16th All Japan University Football Championship are qualified for the competition.
Furukawa electric (2nd place of the league) and Yawata Steel (4th place) withdrew from the competition.
Hitachi' head office (6th place) withdrew from the competition.
If two teams are level at the end of regulation time, extra time shall be played.
If the match is still undecided, the winning team shall be decided by lot.
